This will involve using the NAS as an extension to their home computer, ie. I need to be able to provide remote access to the users so they can work at home. If I open the folder using the Qnap console / File Station - the file I just put there under Windows is not there. If I use Windows Explorer to copy/paste a file there from my Windows desktop, the file persists for only a few seconds (if i switch folders to another drive and back it is there, if I do it again it has gone).

In Windows 7 explorer I open the drive, but I cannot see the files that I know are there, nor the subfolder. Adding a folder name to the SiteIP results in login failure. I assume that the account/password that I use will automaticcally direct me to the shared folder that the login has access to. I can log on no problem, the nas bocomes drive T. I have downloaded NetDrive and entered the myqnapcloud address for the nas box.

I have set up file access permissions for the shared folder that i wish to access remotely, with full r/w access under WebDav to the user that I am logging in as. I have turned on the web server on the NAS box, with port 80 & 8081 and all the boxes ticked as per the tutorial. Have you reviewed QNAP Tutorial: Access your QNAP NAS remotely via WebDAV Barrie Kenyon Sounds like a job for WebDAV. Many thanks for any help that you can provide. Is this asking too much? Is there someone out there who has managed to set this up and can help me? Please? Bear in mind that the staff and volunteers at the charity are not the greatest technical people, and the solution will need to be set up on a number of home PC's of various vintages scattered around the town. I just need to be able to map a network drive into their Windows Explorer so that the user can 'see' their files and double click on them to open them, make changes, and save them back onto the NAS. I have searched and read hundreds of posts on this topic in the forum, but it seems that there is no simple way to do what I want. myQnapCloud works fine for web access to applications and files, but it offers no functionality as far as using MSOffice applications with files stored on the NAS. This is already set up in the office and works fine. a simple mapped drive holding Word, Excell, Access type files that they can use exactly as if they were stored on their own machines.
